Stewardship Beyond Conservation
BUMWI is an Indonesian Forest Utilization Business License Holder (PBPH) entrusted with managing one of Indonesia’s largest mangrove landscapes.
Since commencing operations in 1988, we have developed extensive operational knowledge in managing complex mangrove ecosystems.
Today, our role extends far beyond forest management.
We combine ecological science, long-term landscape experience, responsible governance, community collaboration, and transparent monitoring to build an integrated mangrove stewardship model that delivers measurable environmental, social, and climate outcomes.
Rather than managing forests for a single resource, we manage ecosystems as interconnected natural capital that supports biodiversity, protects coastlines, regulates water systems, stores carbon, and strengthens local livelihoods.
